Apothecary Barrel-Aged Aromatic Bitters (General Ambrose’s)

ABV: 42%

Tasting Notes: Aroma notes of dark cherries, cedar forest, anise and pepper.Taste follows with tart cherries, cinnamon, wood, molasses, sweetness and a cinchona bitterness.

Recipe Ideas: These work well in place of any aromatic bitters and therefore any spirit, but they are especially good with bourbon or rye.

Try them in an Old Fashioned or a Trinidad Sour, if you’re feeling particularly bold.

Have a Question?

These are the bitters that really started this whole bitters journey for Apothecary. Fragrant and delicious, the bold primary flavours of dried cherry and cedar wood are supported by an undercurrent of anise, dark fruits and a woodsy note. The fruit notes combined with the darker, richer flavours allow them to work well in nearly any application, but they really shine with rye, gin and sweet vermouth.
